Finally!
Apparently, the FBI has cut off contact with CAIR. I say it's about time we started dealing with terrorist sympathizers. You can read more about this at the Counter Terrorism Blog.
Quote of the Day
I don't normally do this...but this was too damn funny.

Another Reason To Write Your Congresscritter
You should definitely take a look at this article espousing a national concealed carry measure. It would make your CPL (or whatever your state calls it) universal like your driver license is.
I happen to think it's a great idea and if you agree with me, then I have the widget on the sidebar that gets you in touch with your rep and you should get right on that and let him/her/it know what you want.

Warning
I think I said this once, but probably a long time ago but just in case, I feel like I better do it again.
You may want to read this blog with a sense of humor in your pocket.
If you don't have one, go get it and come back later.
I put this in because I just changed my mail me to a button that I happen to think is damn funny. Now of course, if there are any of those hyper-sexy ladies with guns out there that wanna........
Oh who am I kidding, but anyway, I think you can find the offending button and if you want to e mail me, it opens up your default mail client. If you don't have one of those, you'll see the e mail address on the bottom of your browser.
Many thanks to the blog Mother, May I sleep with Treacher for the idea/button. Hopefully, he doesn't mind my absconding with it.

This is a pretty good thought
I found it over at a blog by Mike Vanderboegh called Sipsey Street Irregulars.
Let's have a tea party. Explanation is in the article, but I think I like this idea. I can't think of a better way to remind the Lightworker that he didn't exactly win by a landslide and 49% of the population doesn't agree with him right off the bat.

Here's Your Right to FEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL Safe
Right here.
Read it, click the links in it. Understand that the looney left craves only power and they cannot have that power until they disarm all of the patriots in this country.
Cooperate, buy a whistle...give me a break, shoot the bastard.

Why I Love Ice Hockey
Because the professional hockey players, for the most part, have so much more class than other sports professionals. They are also so much more fan friendly. Here's some proof of that, but you may want a hanky handy.
And Here's Yet ANOTHER Reason
To keep college students unarmed and helpless.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A female student was stabbed to death Wednesday night on Virginia Tech's campus, triggering a crisis alert system that was revamped after a deadly mass shooting there in 2007.
You can read the rest here.
Let's continue to keep law abiding adults disarmed, shall we?

Action Alert
So there I was, minding my own business, reading blogs and being all innocent when I found out that Tam's Birthday is Saturday, January 24th for those of you who don't have a calendar handy, and to celebrate the day, start by lifting an adult libation to our friend and then go over and bury her comments with happy birthday wishes.

This is Truly Vile
I was reading the Rott, which lead me to Michelle Malkin where I found this the truly most vile desecration of the American flag I have ever witnessed and a blatant violation of US Flag Code.
I am enraged, I am mortified, I am sickened.
Are the Osticka armbands and stiff arm salutes too much further off?
I thought the zombiecorps was finished but apparently I was mistaken.

More Cool Stuff
I think it's high time you all go shake hands with Pink. She's another of those hyper-sexy women with guns I was talking about and she's over in the world's largest litterbox taking it day by day. Go show her some love and support and say thanks for being there.

New Blog and News
I found a new blog that I really like. I like it because it's fresh and honest. The lady is funny and smart and just getting through life like the rest of us, but blogging the good parts. I think you should read her stuff and enjoy it. So, go check out Chromed Curses, if for no other reason than because she has the sexiest weather station on the web.
And now for news...
I have begun to notice that there are some very cool blogs out there that have been written by ladies that either are or were over in the sandbox. I have started reading a couple of these and I'm rapidly becoming a fan. It's fresh and it's thoughtful and it's a different perspective than one usually gets from a male mil-blogger.
Did I mention that they are also hyper sexy and have guns? What could be better than that?
Yeah, I know, but they're not gonna spend the weekend at Casa de Warthog so wishful thinking continues.

How About Something Really Different?
I keep going over to wander through The War on Big Tobacco and I have realized that I have gotten away from something that I used to love to do. Smoke good cigars.
Trust me when I say that at one time or another in my life, I have dabbled in all forms of tobacco. The chew and snuff...well, not so much, but some. It can be kinda handy where you just can't light up but don't want to kill someone in the middle of a nicotine fit, but taking care of the residue can be tricky. Pipes? Oh yeah, been there, done that and I still love the smell of a pipe today. I never got so into that that I was having custom tobaccos mixed, but I have seen it done. Frankly, I always loved the Captain Black Royal. Oh, did I mention that I'm a cheap ass too? I'm also a bit on the lazy side so the pipe thing didn't last because there is so much maintenance that goes into taking care of your pipe that I found it more of a hassle than I wanted to deal with. I suppose I should have made it part of the whole "ritual" of the thing, but I thought it was a hassle at the time.
Which brings us to the cigar. Relaxing and somehow so much more "manly" I guess. You can spend a ton of money or you can find some real decent smokes on the cheap. It doesn't take a whole bunch of effort. You just punch or snip, toast/light and relax.
I think I'm going to stop at my local tobacconist and get a couple nice cigars on the way home from work. Maybe I need to just hit the relaxation button and I'll sleep better.

Call to Action
OK, Listen up. I've had that little bit on the sidebar about getting a hold of your elected officials for quite a while now. The time to use it for a good cause has arrived. Congress is apparently taking a look at cutting costs by screwing with TRICARE for retirees. We need to get letters written and put a stop to this.
If they wanna cut the budget, how about canceling all foreign aid and ending free health care for illegal aliens?
*UPDATE*
Here's the letter I sent to Carl Levin:
Mr. Levin,
I would urge you to strongly oppose any changes to medical benefits to
Military Retirees. They have given the bulk of their lives to defend this
nation and should be rewarded with better health care than congress wants
to allow illegal aliens.
Sincerely,

Good Stuff
While I was over at the 2008 weblog awards voting for Blackfive as the best mil-blogger, I spotted this site. The War on Big Tobacco. I got curious and a gave it a read and I liked it so I thought that you folks might like it too and I added it.

I spotted this over at The Smallest Minority and it's so perfect that I thought I would just stick it here. Watch and learn.

A Break
From the guns and politics and a quick jaunt to the world of sports.
Florida State is NOT the National Champion.
They seemed to have NOT gone UNDEFEATED. Utah did though. Just one more case that shows that the BCS system doesn't work and a playoff system should be instituted.

Time Flies
I was just reading back over my archives and it hit me...I've been here since July of 2006. 3 and a half years of pure internet mediocrity. I even have the reader to back it up...oh wait, that's me checking in without logging in.....nevermind.
Seriously though, if you are a regular visitor or you have left a comment in the past, or even if you're reading here for the first time, thank you.

More Good Reading
You should wander over to Front Sight, Press and give this article a read. A little missive from Gabe Suarez that I think you'll find interesting. Gabe is a pretty knowledgeable guy and his writings make a lot of sense. You could look him up on the internet and he has some stuff over at YouTube too. He has several really good things on arm's length encounters that are well worth looking over.
Now that I said all that, I'm going to say this:
There's a comment on there, number 3 to be exact, that made me think.
The commenter says:
A final consideration that came to mind as I pulled out the plastic. As the days of the 2nd Amendment come to a close a firearm with no clips to lose and fewer parts to break is a big plus.
I have a couple things to say about that. Some of it, I said over there since I'm comment 4, but I want to hit on it here. You see, I'm not so sure that 2A is going anywhere anytime soon. Heller is going to be a huge help in preserving it. So are you, if you can remember 1 very important thing. America is a representative republic. The biggest part of government is supposed to be YOU. I think America has forgotten that over the last 30-40 years. People (or should I say sheeple) have become content to just follow the herd and then complain because we have "government gone wild". They have forgotten that any dog will get out of control should it's owner neglect it. That's what we have here, our dog is out of control because we the people (owners) have neglected it so that without our direction, the big businesses and special interest groups have held sway. We need to roll up the newspaper (ballot) and swat the dog. The dog of government needs to be housebroken again so that we don't step in it's excrement in the living room anymore.
The second thing I wanted to say about the above comment is this:
The commenter writes about having fewer parts to lose or break. This SHOULD be a primary consideration with EVERY gun you buy. In any of the shooting disciplines, when you pull the trigger, you need a BANG. A click or silence just sucks. Don't forget that there are steps to buying a gun. Fit and dependability are the first 2, then controlability and stopping power. I say fit first because if the gun doesn't fit you and feel right, you won't use it. That's why I don't own any Glocks. They don't fit me. Then, does (will) it go BANG every time you pull the trigger? Can you control it for faster follow up shots? Remember, the lighter the gun, the more muzzle flip and perceived recoil you get making follow up shots a bit more difficult. Then stopping power. A .38 will do better than a .22 but a .45 trumps both for raw power but true stopping power is also a factor of putting solid hits in vital areas which leads us back to fit and dependability and throws in the spectre of lots and lots of practice. For carry anyway, at home, there's no criminal on earth that won't piss their pants over the satisfying ka-chunk of a 12ga pump racking.
Anyway, there's my opinion. You wanted it or you wouldn't have come.
