Please Sign This

I found this over at the United States Naval Institute Blog and I think it's a grand thing and I would ask all of my readers to go visit and sign.

In short, this is a petition to have the next CVN built named USS Enterprise.

Fun Day

I decided to get rid of some stress by doing one of my favorite things. Showing my guns some TLC. The smell of Hoppes and spending time fondling the AR and the 1911 is one of those things I find really relaxing. Since I can't find any 45 for recoil therapy right now, this is a pretty good option.

Cool News

I found a couple things over at Blackfive that I think are very worthy of being shared, especially in these stressful times.

Well this is a breath of fresh air. A court in El Paso, TX has been set up sepcifically to deal with returning vets who have gotten themselves into trouble. It is taking into account the effect that combat has had on them and working to provide peer counseling and other ways to keep them from simply going to jail. They do not automatically excuse crimes, but look at the entire picture of each person and if they seem to have been affected by their service they offer help. h/t Dawn Patrol.

A new court that will open in El Paso County next month is designed to provide returning veterans accused of felonies with an alternative to the conventional justice system, which is not always sympathetic to combat-related brain injuries and stress disorders.

"It's based on drug court, where there are immediate consequences, with a lot of heavily supervised probation," said El Paso County District Judge Ron Crowder, a two-star general in the Colorado Army National Guard, a former paratrooper in Vietnam and holder of the Distinguished Service Medal.

Crowder is developing the court with a group that includes mental-health counselors, court administrators and veterans advocates.

I hope this concept catches on and provides another safety net for those who have done the right thing and then been hurt while doing so. We have to work in every part of society to get these folks help not punishment. This is a great piece of that puzzle.

And this, which is a touch long and I think I'll post a link instead of the whole story, but it's a story about winning in the face of adversity which should make you think, your life isn't so bad after all.

How Long Do We Continue To Tolerate This

Take a little peek at this. What we have here is a case of being punished for asking a question of someone intolerant. One thing I will say however is that the person running the video was probably unwise to wear a Christian themed t shirt to a Muslim gathering in Dearborn. Muslims and Christians mixing like, you know, gasoline and matches.

That having been said, the security troops were definitely in the wrong. In Michigan, a Security Guard's authority stops at observe and report. Since the videographer was not being in any way impolite, unprofessional or aggressive, they were committing assault to have any physical contact with him or his camera person.

You can see the uselessness of Dearborn's police department as they took no apparent action to view the video and then start arresting people.

Here's the problem as I see it. America goes way too far out of her way to avoid offending anyone even to the point of becoming offensive to her own citizens. This kind of thing needs to stop.

Now, the group that was doing the filming has a blog here. I will post the video from Dearborn below but it is also on the blog post. The video the group shows definitely supports their version of the story. If the story is true, this is a horrifying example of what the future holds for America unless she finds the testicles she lost over the last 20 years or so.

The question becomes, what exactly do we do about this? Perhaps a few e mails to the Mayor? I looked on the City of Dearborn website http://www.cityofdearborn.org but I was unable to find a link to the City prosecutor. I think perhaps we should e mail Dearborn Mayor John B. O'Reilly Jr (mayor@ci.dearborn.mi.us) and ask him if he plans to have his Police Department pursue assault charges against those "security guards" and send a little message that the First Amendment of the United States Constitution or Article 1 Section 5 of Michigan's Constitution basically "Shall not be infringed".

I also intend to contact the group responsible for the video to attempt to ascertain the content of the pamphlets they were given. Hopefully, there will be an update.

You know, the more I read it, the more I like Michigan's Constitution...there's no BS in it, it's just straight to the point.

*UPDATE 1*

I did e mail the videographer and asked him to pop over for some discussion. I really hope he does, he may have a very interesting opinion on this and I would welcome the discussion.

Obamacare

In my surfing exploits today, one of my regular sites, the Rott, directed me over to IMAO where I found this gem from Steven Crowder.

Folks, if we don't act in a decisive manner and quickly, we are going to wind up with this. This is a bit of a long load but very worth the time to look at it.

I'm Back...Did Ya Miss Me?

Wait! Do NOT answer that.

The laptop got invaded by a nasty little virus that had it spending the weekend at the geek shop getting it's little corners cleaned out. Now that it's back to normal, my glacially slow posting rate will resume.

Have a safe and happy Independence Day.

Reading Assignment

You want to go read this.

If you agree with anything Obambi is doing, read it twice and commit it to memory as it may come back to bite you in the ass later.

H/T Blackfive

When you're done, go read this.

If you agree with anything Obambi is doing, read it again, carefully, word for word. Just saying.

Palin 2012

Saw this on MSNBC.com.

I do say that I have to disagree with Howard Fineman on this though. I believe that Sarah is quite intelligent. Any issues she had last election were brought about by having to play things McCain's way. On her own, I think the libs will find her very formidable.

She likely has more knowledge of foreign affairs than Obambi does, and she certainly won't be alienating our allies and bowing to Saudi Kings.

Washington "insiders" have put this country where it is now, she has to be better than they are, she doesn't have the ingrained sense of "this is how it's done" to keep on fucking it up like they do.
