I cannot keep silent

This is just so entirely stupid that I have to comment. First, I will copy and paste the entire article below then go point by point.

Desperation is not good planning

October 16, 2006

By Ken Schram

SEATTLE - Desperation is not good planning.

Students in a school district outside Fort Worth, Texas are being told they should fight back if and when an armed intruder shows up in the classroom.

The Burleson School District has hired a British Army Major to instruct kids - and teachers - on how they should throw books and anything else they can get their hands on.

The program is called "Response Options" and involves kids and teachers attacking an armed intruder as soon as he enters their classroom.

They're told to run at the gunman, grab him by the legs, stab him with pens and pencils, throw stuff at his head, and scream the whole time.

This is lunacy.

I don't care how frightened or concerned parents are about the kind of school violence we've seen. This is not an answer.

I don't care if it's in Burleson, Texas or Bellevue, Washington, this is nuts.

If this is the best that adults can come up with to protect kids from the type of violence we saw in Pennsylvania last week; if telling little Tiffany or Ryan to tackle some 200 pound animal who's armed with a semi-automatic pistol or rifle is considered anything other than stupid, senseless desperation, then this country is in far worse trouble than any of us can possibly imagine.

Let the games begin.

Yes, the students are being taught to fight back. You possibly believe that they should just allow themselves to be herded into a cafeteria like good little sheeple and slaughtered? Oh wait, I know, they should sit and wait for the police to save them. Well, you wait for Superman to fly in and save you, I'm gonna fight. I may die, but Joe Scumbag will be following me shortly.

Having met some British Army types, I'd say the Major was a good choice. Anything can be a weapon. Use it.

I want to point out that the program is called Response Options. The key word here is options. You always want some options. If an armed intruder walks into the room, hell yeah, hit him with everything available.

It's lunacy to sit quietly and wait to die, that's nuts. America was not founded by people who were willing to let themselves be herded and I think it's unpardonable to teach our kids to be herded. These kids are the future leaders, we cannot teach them to just roll over for some idiot.

The final paragraph is the one I find most amusing. I shall copy and paste it here:

If this is the best that adults can come up with to protect kids from the type of violence we saw in Pennsylvania last week; if telling little Tiffany or Ryan to tackle some 200 pound animal who's armed with a semi-automatic pistol or rifle is considered anything other than stupid, senseless desperation, then this country is in far worse trouble than any of us can possibly imagine

Well, the best that idiots like you have come up with so far has been Gun Free School Zones and I think we can all see how well that is working. The stupid senseless desperation occurs when the plans that have been not working up to now fail...............again.
