On February 14th, 2012, I would like for all freedom loving individuals across this great Republic to venture forth to their local Starbucks Coffee joint and spend some money. Buy a new coffee mug for your Mom, send some coffee beans to your sister, buy a couple of your friends a cup of coffee or a cappuccino. Why? Well to spit in the gun banner's eye, do you need a better reason?

Their plan is to do some financial damage to the business to try to coerce Starbucks into joining them on the gun ban band wagon. We should step up to mitigate that loss as a way of saying Thank You to Starbucks for accepting that in some places, you can carry a gun and for not discriminating against us.

I freely admit that I have absolutely no connection to Starbucks whatsoever and I doubt that they, as a corporation, are even aware of my existence. I also admit that I normally do not patronize Starbucks as I don't think their coffee is all that great and I do think it's overpriced however, I love a chance to spit in the eyeballs of the gun banners and I think our own little "Operation Thank You" in the face of a gun banners boycott will be both noticed and appreciated.

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating the accidental discharge of a firearm by one of its uniformed officers near the Russian Embassy.

According to a spokeswman, the incident happened around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, on the 2600 block of Tunlaw Road NW.

The gun fired while the officer was sitting inside a patrol car. The bullet shatteried the vehicle's window.

No injuries were reported.

Oh yeah. At first, I wondered about some of the stuff flying around about the left trying to spark a civil war. I thought, oh come on now, no one in their right mind wants that kind of horror. Maybe they're not in their right mind. I am actively beginning to wonder. Maybe I had better not discount this as simple frustration or as merely angry words.

Would you believe that a sitting state governor actually said this? Does that make you feel squeamish? The thought of that makes my skin crawl. How about this? Really?

Then, Obummer actually says that a Republican win in the next election would cripple the nation. Really? I think you already did that. What could be much worse that what you have already done? The economy is shot, unemployment went up, gas prices went up, don't get me started on the debt. You really think Republicans could do worse? A monkey wouldn't have made this much mess.

The question becomes one of what do we do about it? Will the election of a conservative help the process? Or do we need to look at another remedy? Is it time to start training in earnest for an event that we all fervently hope never happens? How doomed is this once great Republic? Should we try to fix it now? With all of it's resultant horror, or do we just keep praying it will never happen in our lifetimes and leave it to our children to clean up?

I honestly have no answers I am only throwing the thought out for discussion among my wiser readers. I will say I am getting more uncomfortable with what I see and hear, what I'm going to do? I wish I knew.

I had really wanted to post something meaningful today. Something more than just a simple Happy 4th of July. I wanted to but I can't, I just don't feel it this year.

I thought the new Congress was going to fight Obamacare. They've done nothing. I was hoping someone might reign in TSA. Nope, nothing. They talk and talk about the stuff they're going to do once elected and then maintain the status quo once they're in.

I'm tired of people running for office and then playing dead when they get there and I'm even more tired and frustrated with the voters that let them. Don't even get me started on the news media that ignores it, or in some cases, champions it.

I wish I could say I had solutions to the problems, but I don't.

I do hope my readers enjoy the day but do take a moment to contemplate what it really means.

It is with a great deal of sadness that I direct you all to the sidebar and ask you to visit the MCRGO's Do Not Patronize list. It has been recently updated and I see that it's sadly, a bit longer than it used to be.

I am also announcing my intention to boycott Walgreens in response to their recent firing of a pharmacist who defended his life and the lives of his co-workers with a legally carried concealed pistol. It is my understanding that at the time, Walgreens had NO policy regarding concealed carry by its employees. It is also my understanding that even the county prosecutor admitted that the pharmacists action saved the lives of his co-workers. My little personal boycott means nothing to Walgreens, but I know about it. Perhaps you would consider joining me?

Kalamazoo Solar has filed an appeal with the Michigan Tax Tribunal over the property tax issue, but in the meantime, it has to continue paying the property tax, Field said. The appeals were filed a year ago but it could be another two years before the hearing takes place.

3 years to hope that there might be some resolution to this issue and they still have to pay the fucking taxes while they wait and lose money. Don't you just love how swiftly they move on the issue? If we're going to push all this green/renewable energy crap down people's throats then why are we taxing it to the point it can't be sustained?

I see that the Military Channel (among others) is devoting a lot of air time to the Bin Laden raid. The Military Channel is airing a program that will take us inside the raid, the intel gathering, the training and execution of the mission.

I don't like it and I don't think it's appropriate.

What our special warfare operators do and how they do it should remain a secret. Anything that details how they came about the information on Bin Laden's whereabouts should remain secret. Hell, I even think the locations of our special warfare bases and training facilities should be secret.

I don't understand why We The People are tolerating the Governmentally sanctioned sexual assaults being perpetrated upon children by the TSA. A 6yr old and an 8 yr old are the most recent victims. These children are not potential threats to anyone or anything except maybe a candy bar. Why are they being groped publicly without the gropers being beaten to death by an enraged mob? Tell me the truth, if you saw a person on the street do that to a child, would you stand by silently? Or would there be a gunshot? What exactly is the difference between a pedophile and a uniformed thug? Why are we letting this happen? Especially when we're talking about an agency that hasn't stopped a damn thing.

The Israelis have a system with a history of decades of success but to listen to the TSA weenies try to explain how much cheaper it is to grope innocent citizens and children than it is to adopt a system that actually works. It disgusts me.

The time is long past to demand that our elected officials disband TSA and prosecute the gropers. The government is answerable to We The People and it's damn well time we made them answer.

I've Been Thinking

I know, it's dangerous but still.

I've been in and out of the security industry for almost 25 years now. Things have changed a lot and not in a good way.

When I first got into the industry in 1989, the mere presence of a person in uniform was sufficient deterrent to crime and stupidity. Now, I don't think you could deter some of these animals with a Ma Deuce. The war on terror, the crappy economy, the hip-hop culture all combine to make the world a damn dangerous place.

I live and work in the Battle Creek, MI metropolitan area. An area which was just named the 22nd highest crime rate area in the nation. That puts it at number 3 in Michigan. My local police agency has told me both that I should do whatever I have to do to get home safe after work and that they will see if they can get me a used set of armor. Not real good for the old comfort level. Top that off with the fact that the area I guard seems to cater to the shallow end of the gene pool and I really don't think I should be patrolling in anything lighter than a Bradley.

I see security officers getting less respect than ever and not just from the general public. I am fortunate to work with a great police department which sees me as an extra set of eyes rather than just a bystander in a silly costume, but most law enforcement agencies aren't like that.

The hip-hop culture has some of these hood rats thinking that jail time is a great way to develop what they call "street cred" so they can look all tough for their homies. I bet more than half of them would get a chubby out of taking down a uniformed person.

There are 4 known Islamic terrorist cells in the Detroit area, 3 in Chicagoland and at least 2 near Indianapolis. Talk about a potential triangle of death and mayhem. (I'll take more current info if anyone has it, thanks).

I don't think I have to talk about the economy, we all see it every day.

I wonder if the day of the unarmed security guard is dead? I don't think that a uniform and a vigilant attitude are as effective in this day and age as they used to be. I don't think there's any respect for guards anymore and I think we may actually be potential targets rather than the deterrent we were 20 years ago. If you have thoughts, I'd love to hear them.

Hunt Club, Battle Creek

I went to the Hunt Club in Battle Creek, MI today. It's supposed to be a nice place. The special was a 16oz ribeye. The worst cut of meat I have had since I was in the Navy. 3/4 fat. By the time the fat was trimmed away it was a weight watchers cut. I would have been happier going to Burger King or cooking up some fresh road kill.

To top it all off, when I said something to the waitress, she had to talk to the bartender, the bar tender actually acted like she was offended that someone had had the temerity to complain. I will say that the waitress was wonderful. The overall experience, however, was totally ruined by the crappy cut of meat and the horrible attitude of the bar tender, who had to call a manager on the phone to find out what to do about this. Had to call the manager? Really? The motherfucker couldn't be bothered to come out from wherever and deal with a dissatisfied customer?

They turned my first ever visit into my last ever visit. Fuck them.

I am fully aware of the use of a gun for hunting and fully endorse that. The point of my statement is: HANDGUNS ARE USED FOR ONE THING-TO KILL HUMANS. Plus, you had no response about Arizona gun laws. Arizona gun dealers are the NUMBER 1 supplier of weapons to the drug cartels in Mexico period.

No dipshit, the number 1 supplier of weapons to drug cartels is the corrupt Mexican government. The numbers on the guns found have been cherry picked to suit the gun banners purposes.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That's the only section of the 2nd Amendment that stands on it's own as a complete sentence. The militia is the whole of the people. The Heller decision confirms the right of the individual. AND...the Michigan State Constitution Art 1 Sec 6 states: Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state. Did you note the express mention of individual self defense?

President Clinton signed a bill known as Don't Ask, Don't Tell. It's purpose was to allow homosexuals to serve in the military so long as they kept it quiet. They could still be denied entry or thrown out if they were open about it, but DADT forbade the military from asking about it so they could throw them out.

Recently, Congress voted to repeal it. This is big news and everyone thinks it's important. I have a news flash for you all that no one seems to want to discuss.

It doesn't matter. It didn't matter when Clinton signed it in and it won't matter when Obama signs it out.

I've been hearing a lot about the deal that was cut recently concerning the extension of the Bush tax cuts and the extension of unemployment benefits. Most on the conservative side of the spectrum are very much against the extension of unemployment. I have to say that I disagree with this objection.

Regular readers know that I very rarely write anything of a personal nature. Well, now I'm going to.

If it wasn't for partial unemployment, I'd be fucked. Plain and simple. I have only a part time job and it wouldn't allow me to survive and keep my home. With the partial unemployment I get, I can keep my home, pay for my basic utilities and food, keep the payments up on my truck and keep it in gas, and feed myself and my cat.

Yes, there are some bills that cannot be paid at this time. Yes, I do need a better job, in fact, I would love a better job but this is Michigan and I'm not holding my breath although I do keep looking and hoping. No, it's not what I was hoping for and it's different than my life had been going but it's the way of things right now here at Casa de Warthog and one day at a time is the only way to handle it.

There is no perfect system but killing unemployment would be just stupid right now. How many million people would be in dire trouble if unemployment was ended? I understand the argument about how to pay for it but what is the price to end it?

I just happen to have an answer on how to raise the money for unemployment and it doesn't involve raising taxes on anyone.

The Senate, House of Representatives, the pResident and Vice President and all of the various Secretaries should take an immediate 50% pay cut and begin paying 100% of their own medical care in lieu of insurance coverage and pay for their own travel expenses.

In general, according to Wikipedia, the Prez makes 487,000 per year.
the VP makes 227,300
Congress makes 169,300
the Cabinet makes 199,700
and the Supreme court makes 213,900

Damn, talk about overpaid.

So, the cabinet alone accounts for 4,193,700
Congress eats up 90,575,500
Supreme Court 1,925,100

These are base pay rates, the Speaker of the House and President pro tempore and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and some others make more. I'm just going to deal with the base pay for right now to make it easier.

We're talking about 97,408,600 per year.

A 50% pay cut puts 48,704,300 back into the budget. Sadly, they're still making a lot too much money but this is a start. On top of this, they now pay for all of their own travel and medical expenses. Can you see the savings adding up? I sure can. We can ground the Presidential aircraft and all those executive aircraft and helicopters saving millions on maintenance and fuel costs while at the same time, putting money back into the economy by making our elected officials fly commercial. An extra bonus to that is that they have to go through the grope line just like the rest of us.

That's a hell of a lot of money per year. Given that they're supposed to be public servants, I could make the argument that they should be paid a hell of a lot less. In fact, it occurs to me that they shouldn't make more than the military does. I may even write my Congressperson and tell them that would be a great plan to save money. Congress should be paid the same as our military is and get the same medical coverage. First year in office = E-1 pay (17,364 per yr), Second year = E-2 (19,464 per yr) and so on with a 2 term limit. Can I get a hell yeah?

This is not the time to kill unemployment. Too many people need it for survival. It could be funded if Congress was really serious about doing it.

Obviously, the full body scans and the gubmint sanctioned groping of citizens has been all over the news. I'm right there with most everyone else when I say that I disagree with the way this "security" is being handled.

Enhanced pat down? Hell no, if anyone else did it, it would be a sexual assault. You think that's an exaggeration? Go to your local bar this weekend and try giving one to one of the other patrons.

Yes, I do think TSA is out of control. For that matter, I think most of the government is out of control. This "Department of Homeland Security" is little more than the clowns running the circus. They can't do the job either from behind a desk or by being so afraid that they might offend someone that they do almost nothing. Sadly, when they do actually do something, it's not well thought out and they wind up offending everyone.

So, what do we do? Well, I have heard of a group organizing a national opt-out day for the day before Thanksgiving. The idea being that everyone who flies should opt-out of the full body scanner and submit to the grope. The idea being that if everyone does this, it slows the system down to a slow crawl and demonstrates how terrible the idea of the body scanners is. Nice thought, I doubt the sheeple will go for it, but it's a nice thought. I have, what is in my opinion, an even better thought.

Let's have a National No Fly day. We have a very public announcement that due to the obscenity that TSA has become, we're just not going to fly. By doing this, we have the potential to cost the airlines an awful lot of money. Because we have been careful to firmly state that the reason we're not flying is the TSA and that this is a protest over both the full body scanners and the grope check if one opts out, the airline industry as a whole comes against the TSA.

Why would it work? Because the airlines are very important to the economy and they can't afford to lose millions of dollars a day because people have stopped flying in protest of the TSA going a lot too far. They'd scream bloody murder and the government would be forced to make changes so that people would fly again.

I am fully aware that this is all a dream that will never come to fruition because the American people are far too selfish. They're all in a hurry to do whatever it is they're doing and can't be bothered to re-plan their travel to an alternate method. They have to get there fast. As long as that remains the prevailing attitude in America, then the sheeple will continue to submit to the sexual assaults of the TSA. The rest of us should stop flying.

Every now and again, I sneak a Babylon 5 quote into the mix here. Please take a moment to contemplate this one. I believe you'll find that, while it was written by Joe Straczynski back in the 90's, that it burns very true today.

The questions that I have been contemplating lately are these:

What does our future now hold? Has too much damage already been done to the Republic? Do the citizens of this nation even have the stomach to do what must be done in order to save what's left?

The forces of evil have been working on us for decades. This is not something that started with Carter or Clinton or Bush Jr. or Obama, this has been brewing for decades. Slow gradual creeping of government into our lives, the slow erosion of the Constitution, the step by step process that made "political correctness" mainstream, schools slowly teaching children not to think for themselves and/or that any hint of imagination or true creativity must be ADD and therefore treated with drugs to suppress it.

True, the rot within may have started with a combination of greedy government and inattentive sheeple but the rot is there and it runs deep. It has infected almost every aspect of our great Republic and there will be no easy fix. In fact, I begin to wonder if it can be fixed. Could it be that we have let this rot creep for far too long?

Yes, there have been calls for change but change to what?

OK, just for discussion, let's say that the final line gets crossed and a civil war starts. Because this is purely hypothetical, let's say that those who would see the government restored to it's original power under the Constitution win. Now what? The government is restored to original specifications. The people are back in control as they are supposed to be. What exactly did we fix?

On the other hand, can we fix this through a thoroughly corrupt system that panders to political survival and world opinion rather than the good of our Republic?

We need to have more people employed but how do we do that? We need to rebuild our manufacturing base so we can produce more goods that people want and need but can we do that with a populace that has been educated away from original thought?

It's easy to carry a soap box to the corner of Main and Center and hop on it to call for dismantling the system but it's gonna be a hell of a lot harder to rebuild that which has been lost. I hope you're not going to look to me for an answer because, like many of you, all I have are questions and fears.

What is our nation becoming and why have we let it happen? What will happen to us? How can we fix it? Plenty of questions and no answers. So how exactly do we seize that "one last fragile moment"? I don't have answers for all of it but the couple of things I do know is that "We the People" had better wake up and start paying attention and that we need to be much better educated about what these folks running for office really stand for. There's a hell of a lot more to be done, but this is a start. This and to remember, the government can't do it all for you, at some point, you will have to get up off your couch and get involved yourself.

Some Things To Think About

I've seen a couple posts today that have made me stop and think. I'll just point you over to Brigid's and let you read her thoughts. They are wonderful as always but you may want some kleenex nearby, the dust is awful over there today ;).

The other thing I saw is going to take a bit more. If memory serves me correctly (no, I am NOT going to go hunt them down), I have written, a time or 2, about the misuse of the English language and how it seems to have been perverted into something else. I saw a post today that shows an example of this, but even more than that, it shows how powerful an effect words have on your brain and how words can make you do things that are, on their face, really stupid, but somehow the words compel you to it.

Read this and then ponder it for a moment.

I used to see this every day. Every goddamn day. I once threatened to shoot someone over it...in public. Always the same excuse...stop worrying, it's not loaded. I don't give a fuck! It's a goddamn GUN. What part of DON'T FUCKING POINT THAT AT ME are you missing?

I have to agree that the rules for safe gun handling need to be re-thought and I think that cutting it down to the 3 in the article is the right way to go.

It's become a matter of wording and how the human brain reacts to it. Like the article says, once your brain wraps itself around the idea that the gun is unloaded, for some reason it believes that it's ok to do stupid things with it.

Friends, there's a lot too much stupid in the world today. The gene pool needs a chlorine treatment really badly. Let's work extra hard at not adding to the problem.

Everything is fine here at Casa de Warthog. Between 4:45 and 4:55 this afternoon there were 2 tornado touchdowns reported at locations within 2 miles of my home but I saw nothing myself. Pity, as I was looking, LOL. Funny thing with me, for most people a Tornado siren means seek shelter, for me, it means go outside and look for it. I did happen to find a video of the wall cloud, trees between the videographer and the storm prevented any video of the funnel. Damn odd I didn't see it.

A Dallas police officer is in good condition after being accidentally shot by another Dallas police officer late Friday morning.

Rookie police officer Ricardo Solis and veteran officer Christopher Thomas were searching a dark, abandoned home on the 3700 block of Crane Street for an aggravated robbery suspect when Thomas accidentally discharged his weapon, striking Solis in his torso which was protected by his bullet-proof vest, officials said.

Solis, who has been with the department for just three days, was transported to Parkland Hospital in good condition. He is expected to be released this afternoon.

The person officers were searching for was not found.

Steven Seagal - Lawman, A Review

I watched the first season of this and I had some thoughts about it.

According to the credits at the beginning of the show, Steven Seagal has been a working Deputy Sheriff in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana for the last 20 years (I also want to point out that Mr. Seagal is credited as being the show's Executive Producer). Wikipedia states that no records can be found concerning any actual certification as a law enforcement officer and suggests that his role with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office is merely an honorary/ceremonial position. It is suggested throughout the show, that Mr. Seagal holds the rank of Reserve Deputy Chief. It is interesting to note that no reference to him appears on the website for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office or Mr. Seagal's own website. I know in my own area, one can serve as a reserve deputy without any certification. I do not have any information about how such a system works in the State of Louisiana.

During the course of the show, Mr. Seagal is shown in a training capacity with some officers and academy students. He teaches some small arms and gives what would appear to be a very good course on weapon retention which is a subject he states in the episode to be very important to him. He assists another officer with some shooting pointers and appears to be a very good shot and at all times appears to handle handguns very safely and confidently. One thing I did notice is that it appears that the department issue handgun in Jefferson Parish is the Glock, possibly .40 or .45 and that Mr. Seagal is carrying a 1911. This handgun appears to be either a 4" Commander type or a full size 5". It seems to change a couple times. It would seem that he rarely takes it out of it's holster.

If the show is actually showing what is, then Mr. Seagal should be applauded for the way that he interacts with the public. He does not appear to be arrogant at any time and engages the general public with humor and a calm demeanor. If this show isn't shameless self promotion in the face of a declining movie career, then he is doing a wonderful job of promoting the JPSO to the community and building a positive relationship with the community.

He is apparently embroiled in a rather nasty lawsuit brought by a former employee and the show has been suspended by Chief Newell Normand indefinitely until the issue is resolved. It is not stated anywhere that I can find, what his current status with the JPSO is.

Overall, it's an interesting show to watch. You get a look at how Katrina affected the area and it's lasting implications. It is also interesting to observe reactions within the community to Mr. Seagal's presence and his reactions to it, which appear to be mostly with a healthy dose of humor. I don't think the show is a complete waste of time and as I said before, if this show is portraying actual fact rather than shameless self promotion, then I think that what he's doing is wonderful and should be applauded.

I have found an amazing organization and I want to spread the word about it as far and wide as possible. It's called the Veteran's Airlift Command and it was founded by a Vietnam Vet who came home wounded. He felt that the best way to help wounded vets was to start a non profit organization whose mission is to provide transportation to wounded vets and/or their families.

Private pilots volunteer their time and aircraft to get these vets from point A to point B.

I think this is amazing and if I had the time and the money, I'd go get a pilot license just to be able to do this. If you have a pilot license and access to an aircraft and you want to get involved, by all means, go check their website.

Warthogs's Border Security 101

No college credits for this but here goes anyway.

When I first started blogging, I wrote a post about why I can't be president. Now that we have pResident Teleprompter, if I won the lottery, I might run.

Border security is a hot button issue. It's really pretty basic if you break it down to it's simple roots. We will get down to the simple roots.

The United States of America is a sovereign nation. Merriam Webster defines sovereign as meaning: enjoying autonomy. Merriam Webster defines autonomy as meaning: the quality of being self-governing; especially the right of self government. A sovereign nation has defined borders. A sovereign nation has, as it's responsibility, a right to maintain and defend those borders. The First thing I want to address is the ingrained habit of liberals to selectively read things. The focus of this rant is ILLEGAL Immigration. If you're going to comment, then read and understand every word written, not just a select few.

The United States is a Representative Republic. This means that we are a nation of laws not of majority rules. The law currently in effect says that there are certain procedures that one needs to follow in order to enter the United States. Anyone who violates or circumvents these procedures, which are codified under federal law, is a criminal. It really is just that simple.

What we need to do. Step 1 is to reduce the flow of criminals into the United States. I see 2 ways to do this, one is much more palatable than the other. Idea #1 is to increase the size of the border patrol to a sufficient number of officers to actually patrol the border and catch illegals as they cross. Building a wall or fence with intrusion detection technology would facilitate this nicely. Every illegal caught is then entered into a database before being sent home so that repeat offenders can be identified and placed in prison.

What no one wants to tell you is that Mexico has a wall on their southern border to prevent illegal immigration and their laws on the matter are quite harsh. Can you say hypocrite? Sure you can.

Idea #2 is far less palatable but would be effective as long as we had the balls to be consistent with it. We build a wall to isolate the foreign countries, you know, Mexico and Kalifornia. Then we call up the citizen militia to patrol our side of the wall and have them shoot everyone who comes over it and throw their dead bodies back over as a warning that we're really serious.

At the same time, we round up all of the criminals that are currently residing in the United States and send them home, after entering them into the database, using whatever force is deemed necessary.

In conjunction with this, all American cities that have declared themselves to be "sanctuary cities" lose all of their federal funding. Not one dime for cities that intentionally violate federal law. This is actually a measure that should be instituted with either plan.

Step 2 is that we slightly alter US law so that the procedures for entering the country legally are very plain and understandable and we make it very clear that breaking this law is a serious matter that carries harsh ramifications.

Step 3 is that we get off the notion of "political correctness" and start interacting with reality. US law needs to be changed to identify regimes, nations or individuals which are currently hostile to the United States. Any person from one of these identified groups should be immediately removed from the country and placed in the database. No one from any of these groups will be allowed entry for any reason. I realize that this measure will cause hardships for cities like Dearborn as it will drastically reduce your current population, but look on the bright side, it will be a whole lot quieter in Dearborn without all that Muslim call to prayer shit going on and you'll be a lot less likely to develop a sudden IED problem on city streets. It's high time we started worrying about actual national security and stopped being so worried that we might offend someone.

Step 4 is that we remember 1 simple truth. All of the founding documents of this nation are written in English. I believe this establishes English as the language of our nation. Henceforth, all government documents are to be written in English only. If you want to come to this nation legally then learn the language. Quebec, Canada is like that. France is like that. Many nations are like that. We can do it too.

Step 5 is that anyone coming to this nation will be expected to learn the laws, customs, history and governmental workings (as intended by the founding fathers) of this nation and swear an oath to respect and defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic. You know, kinda like the oath Congress takes upon taking office but usually ignores. Anyone who can be proven to be in violation of that oath will be tried for treason and shot. This should include any member of government who violates the oath of office, but that's a whole 'nother rant.

Oh yeah, while I'm talking about immigration and such, Hey LaRaza:

They have a fair selection of guns and accessories in stock for being a small shop and they usually have a good supply of the most common calibers of handgun ammo in stock.

The owners, Joel and Jared Fulton are NRA certified instructors and teach Michigan CPL courses at regular and frequent intervals. Book Review

I recently read "Have You Seen My Country Lately" by Jerry Doyle. I read this book for 2 reasons, first because I have listened to Jerry's show on the radio many times and I like what he has to say and second because, for those of you who don't know this, Jerry played Security Chief Michael Garibaldi on Babylon 5 and I loved that show. This led me to want to read his book, the moment I saw it in my local store.

To the book. I love someone who writes in a way that both entertains and educates. That's how I pick up on information best, when I'm having some fun with the subject matter. Jerry hits this dead on with several personal stories and many vivid descriptions of current events based upon his life experience. Were I to list favorite chapters, I would have to say all of them, the book is well written and thought out. Jerry takes the time to explain each of his points and show the time line of exactly how our Republic got to where it is now.

I am not asking you to agree with Jerry Doyle, I'm saying that I think it would be well worth your time to read his book and then take a long hard look at how things are and think about it. You may choose to agree or to disagree, but at least the book makes you think.

Here We Go Again

As most of you know by now...Ronnie James Dio passed away from cancer back on the 16th. His public memorial service will be held on May 30th. The updates to his website seem to indicate that most of his family believed he was actually winning his cancer battle and then passed away although it is stated by his wife Wendy that he passed peacefully and most of his friends and family had a chance to say goodbye.

I have long believed that you can never prepare yourself for the passing of a loved one.

Now, to throw gas on that fire, the loonies at Fred Phelps WBC have stated their intention to picket RJD's memorial service.

Many metal head discussion boards are calling for a galactic level ass whoopin. If it doesn't go that way then Freddy has but one person to thank for it.....please pass the irony

Since my internet connection seems to be cooperating today, I shall post the review of the new addition to the arsenal here at Casa de Warthog, the Springfield XD .45 ACP pistol.

This is the 4" with 13 round magazines. It comes with all the XD gear. I have used the magazine holder and it is a very solid piece which I do like. The holster? Well, not so much. The belt loop it has is tall enough for my belt, but too narrow for it to be real stable on the belt. So if anyone from Springfield Armory reads this, you need a wider and more stable belt attachment on your holsters. The secret is, the same type of holster came with my 1911 and I never use it. It's just too damn floppy on the belt. The one thing that has never made sense to me is why Springfield only sends you 2 magazines, but they send you a magazine holder that holds 2 magazines. Oh, I know it just makes you buy another magazine, but if they want to bill this as a complete package, they should just send 3 off the bat.

The grip angle is exactly the same as my 1911. The trigger is A LOT nicer than the Glock 17. I like the sights quite a bit. Easy to pick up. This fits my hand pretty well and was pretty fun to shoot too. Overall...WIN.

What I'm getting used to: Well, this thing has a 4" barrel and I was taken by surprise by how sharp the recoil is for only 1" less barrel than the 1911. I also have a sneaking suspicion that my 1911 is a tad heavier and eats the recoil better. I was also pretty shocked at how stiff the recoil spring is in this. It takes a little beef to rack the slide. I haven't looked it up to be certain but I'm guessing it's a 20 or 22 lb recoil spring vs. the 18.5 in my 1911. This has a double captive spring system. I think it's a bit harder to clean, but not quite as much chance you lose it and it shoots across the room. Internally, it sets up almost exactly like a Glock. Externally, the grip safety makes it much safer in my opinion and it also has a take down lever instead of Glock's little girly button.

So...how does it shoot? Take a peek:

At 15 feet and I'm more than a little stale. Yes, I know I pulled a bunch to the left. Oddly, I do that with my 1911 too, so it's me, not the gun. The stuff that got scattered around were from a couple strings of rapid fire I did just to see the recoil. Overall, that's a pretty dead critter. Well, if you're paying attention to the holes...dead and nutless, kinda like your average liberal, LOL.

Here's the deal...if you like the 1911, you should like the XD .45 provided you can work with it enough to get past the fact that the grip is a little fatter and the barrel is shorter resulting in a sharper recoil and muzzle rise. Once you get past that, I think you'll fall in love with it. It won't replace my 1911, which remains my daily carry gun, but once I've got a few hundred more rounds through it, it will be one I will have confidence in and not be afraid to carry whenever or wherever.

As a special note, this is all my opinion and was done strictly on my own. I am not affiliated in any way with Springfield Armory nor do they even know I exist. I just love their products.

Political Groups

I'm enjoying all the different political groups out there right now from the panty wetters at the Brady Campaign and the outright liars at the Southern Preposterous Lie Center to the bold individuals of the Oathkeepers. Each has their pet agenda. Each wants you to toe the group line when choosing a candidate for office. Therein lies the problem.

This nation has more than just one issue facing it, more than just one thing that needs attention. If we go only by our pet group, we wind up with a political environment that has candidate #1 saying lower taxes, candidate #2 saying repeal obambi/pelosi/reidcare, candidate #3 saying secure the borders, candidate #4 saying strengthen the military and on and on and on. What we wind up with is 10 candidates for 1 seat.

There are far too many people who fail to educate themselves on the issues and where the various candidates stand on them. They shuffle into the booth like a zombie and hit the button for their favorite party and shuffle out. This is how we got into this mess folks. There's really not much of a split between the parties anymore. The Dems move further left and the Repubs have completely forgotten their core values and move left so they don't get too far away.

We have to stop voting for parties and start voting for people who stand for what we believe in. Yes, I do want the Second Amendment protected but I also want the borders secured and illegal immigrants to be considered the criminals that they actually are. I want an end to wasteful spending and lower taxes, but I want an environment created that attracts business rather than chasing it away. I want a strong, well trained and well equipped military, but I also would prefer not having to use them. I no longer give a damn how the rest of the world feels about America, I want America to do what is in her best interests and fuck the rest of the world. (OK, disclaimer, that sounded good but I never really gave a damn what the rest of the world thought about us) I want the government to return to it's powers as outlined by the Constitution and get the fuck out of my life.

We need to cast our votes for candidates that will pledge to stand up for all of these things. We need to stop looking at the parties and start looking at the individual people and where they stand on all of the issues and if they don't want to answer our questions, then we need to hound them until we get our answers. They work for us you know. The best weapon we have to change the government is a well educated electorate.

Iranian Nukes

I was reading over at the Counterterrorism Blog an article by Dr. Walid Phares about Iran and its nuclear ambitions and I began to think. The more I thought about it, the more apparent it became that Iran's nuclear program must be stopped at any and all costs. I'm going to link to Dr Phares' article, of course, but I have a few of my own thoughts.

My thoughts are this. Iran is a nation under the control of a madman. His being a holocaust denier is bad enough, but public statements about removing the Nation of Israel from the face of the earth and how the world would be a better place without America make one pretty nervous as is. Now add in the additional threat of nuclear weapons and you have Armageddon just waiting for a place to happen...and it will too. Let's take a look at how.

Ahmadinnerjacket is not the only madman on earth by any stretch of the imagination. Kim Jong Il over in North Korea is pretty scary too and he already has nukes. Now I know you're saying "so why concentrate on Iran?" Well, that's actually simple. Iran and North Korea both have crazy people running them but they are in completely different places. North Korea has the nukes but lacks a delivery system. Iran has no nukes (yet) but it does have delivery systems. North Korea could develop a delivery system and they are working on it. Iran has, so far, not been able to get a nuke.

The other difference is more important than you think. Sure, North Korea has tested a couple nukes and yes, Kim Jong Il is a total nutbag, but not completely stupid. He's more than likely all talk. Why do I say this? Have you forgotten who lives next door to North Korea? That's right, China. China may not love America, but do you really think they want a nuclear conflict on their back porch? North Korea may develop the delivery system to go with their nukes, but China will never let them get away with popping one, they'd flatten North Korea just to protect their own asses. And Dear Leader knows it.

Iran, on the other hand, is a whole different can of nuts. He has the delivery system and no one close is going to present enough of a threat to stop him. If he gets the nuke to go with his delivery system, he's going to airmail one to Israel. THAT, my friends, is where Armageddon begins. When that bad boy goes off, Israel is going to nuke Iran until it glows. Enough people in the world dislike Israel to begin with, they won't see self defense, they'll just see how the Jews nuked someone and they won't care who the aggressor is, they'll just dogpile Israel. The US will never be able to hold back the Israeli response with Obambi in the White House after he showed such utter disrespect to them. We still have forces in the region so we may be backed into defending them....do you see how the dominoes are starting to fall? Ugly, isn't it?

Iran must not be allowed to gain nuclear weapons. EVER.

Let's not forget that there's a nutjob in this hemisphere too...Chavez down in Venezuela. Don't forget, he's butt buddies with Ahmadinnerjacket. Since Ahmadinnerjacket doesn't like America, he could smuggle a nuke to Chavez who would be more than happy to use it here. Ponder that for a bit.

We're so wrapped up in watching Obama destroy the country from within that we're beginning to lose track of those who would like to destroy it from without.
